Claude Castonguay passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the age of 88 years. Claude was predeceased by his son in law Mike Brissette and siblings Roméo (Isabelle), Léo, Yvon, Rolland, Fernand (Rita), Rodolphe, Thérèse (Gilbert), Gilberte and Lionette (Rhéal). He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne D’Arc Castonguay (née Lauzon); children Marlene (Keith), Nicole, Monique & Claude (Gillian); grandchildren Kurtis (Renée), Amanda, Daryl (Nathalie), Derek (Amy), Nicole, Renée, Chloé & Caylie; great grandchildren Katherine, Beauregard, Zenek, Jedrek, Emilia & Cabri and numerous nieces and nephews. Claude will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He found great joy and comfort in reading. His knowledge for past and current events was a passion he loved to share with his family. He also loved to watch sports and was an avid follower of the Toronto Blue Jays & Montreal Canadiens. Working in forestry most of his life he quickly developed a connection with the beauty of nature. Many family memories growing up were activities spent outdoors whether it was fishing, hunting or just exploring. In honour of Claude’s Life a Private Funeral Service will be held at the French Family Funeral Home. Claude will be laid to rest in the Kirkland Lake Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Claude’s memory may be made to the Kirkland & District Hospital Foundation.
